"Tax
Week" -- [4/10/06]
Dear IRS:
I'm including this letter along with my 2005 tax return to better
explain the items I am writing off this year. I've included photos for
better illustration.
First, Work Write-Offs
As stated on my return, I am a comedian. I think these work related
expenses really need no explanation. But I'll put them down here just
for safety's sake:
1) Gas to drive to shows ($300)
2) Pens and paper for writing
hilarious sketches ($12)
3) Liquor to help me forget how
little money I make ($198.21)
School Write-Offs
I am also a full-time student, and there are some inherent costs that
come along with that as well. Again, redundant, I'm sure:
1) Books ($341)
2) Pens and paper for writing
hilarious class notes ($23)
3) Jetpack fuel for home-to-school
transportation ($10,000)
Running on Empty Business Write-Offs
Running one's own on-line comedy production company is quite a costly
endeavor! I sure am glad you guys are nice enough to give us small
businesses some tax breaks on the essentials:
1) Coffee and coffee paraphernalia
($170)
2) Pirated computer software ($300)
[PS: Can you write off stolen property?]
3) Cotton candy machine to boost
employee moral ($856)
I hope this little note cleared up any confusion you might have had
regarding my tax return.
Sincerely,
Daniel Wayne Ricker
